About the torch

The torch boasts a unique design, with 8,000 holes in it representing the 8,000 torch bearers who will carry it around the country before the start of the games.

Controversy surrounds the Olympic torches, which are available to the torchbearers to buy for £200, with several already appearing for sale on eBay.
