Chester Raft Race Injury Blow For Team Roodee

July 2nd, 2010

Disaster has struck Team Roodee ruling us out of Chester Raft Race 2010. A back injury to our skipper, Simon Davies, leaves us with no option than to quietly watch the race from the Meadows this year.

Organised by the Rotary Club of Chester, Chester Raft Race is an annual event that raises thousands of pounds for worthy causes and charities. This year, ‘Help For Heroes’ is the beneficiary of the fund raising efforts of Chester businesses taking part on Sunday 4th July 2010.

Although we won’t be able to make a splash in the water this year, we are still looking forward to being in the thick of it and look forward to meeting up with our friends and clients on the Meadows before a short walk over to Chester Racecourse for the Showjumping. If the Met Office forecast is accurate, spectators will be just as wet as the raft racers.

We are making a donation directly to the Rotary Club of Chester.

Roodee delivers Chester’s election news – over the web

May 7th, 2010

After heated scenes in Chester on polling day, Roodee was asked to help deliver the news of who had won and lost seats in Cheshire.

We quickly deployed updates for the news sections on the radio stations for Chester and Macclesfield which included a full list of voting results and exclusive photos of Chesters outgoing MP, Christine Russell with her feet up in the cafe at the Northgate Arena after a hard day, and the first photos of newly elected Stephen Mosley as he made his speech.

With results for Ellesmere Port and Neston coming late, due to a recount, Facebook and Twitter were the perfect platforms to deliver this news.

Need to deliver news to your clients? We love communicating. We can help with blogs, Facebook, Twitter and even radio, tv and video. Our office is in Chester. Talk to us on 01244 566286.

New Chester News Service Launches

April 18th, 2010

We are proud to announce the launch of our brand new web service for the only News Room in Cheshire!

In times when most media organisations and broadcasters are scaling back and reducing their overheads, two radio stations in Cheshire have opened up a brand new newsroom, and they are using a content management system to deliver the news over the web implemented by Roodee Web Design.

The journalists at Dee 106.3 and Silk 106.9 access the service via a web-based log-in and can update the news as required in seconds.

If you would like to add a similar service to your website, enabling updates as often as you like, give us a call on 01244 566286.

Roodee is a web design company based in Chester with years of real-world marketing experience and the technical ability to create websites that achieve their goal.

Educating Chester

January 20th, 2010

We grab every opportunity to be involved with our community, so it was thrilling to be asked again to talk about a subject we love… Web Design in Chester.

Following our recent question and answer session with students at West Cheshire College, where we crammed lots and lots of great tips and advice (and picked some up too), we’re looking forward to an hour of questions at Chester Catholic High School. We’ll cover graphic design, the written word, code, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, blogs, social networks and reveal ‘the single most important thing every website must have’.

Our reward? We get to jump the queue at lunch.

Roodee saves Chester!

January 9th, 2010

The temperature in Chester dropped to -9C

The temperature in Chester dropped to -9C

Extreme weather conditions this week brought Chester to a halt, with snow and sub-zero temperatures leading to traffic chaos and inevitable school closures. As the public turn to local radio for essential information we switched on the special ’school closure contingency facility’ on Chester’s Dee 106.3’s website.

The site (we designed but don’t host) was getting thousands of hits. Reading the numbers and spotting an issue out of our control we predicted massive problems on Thursday morning as the city woke up and needed information. So we worked through the night to build a new microsite that would cope with demand.

Next morning we braved an extreme -9C to drive in at 5am to be on site to help take calls from frantic head teachers and immediately update the school closure lists. We gave training in how to update it after 9am when the scramble for information for the day had passed.

The result – tens of thousands children and parents had a day off and a major headache was avoided. We know radio well and we know Dee 106.3 will gain new listeners from this exercise, and they will strengthen bonds with existing listeners.

The cost? Nothing. We want our clients to look great and right now we enjoy strutting around telling everyone we once helped save Chester from chaos!

Roodee Team Narrowly Misses Chester Raft Race Glory

July 17th, 2009

Against very stiff competition, Roodee Web Design’s Chester Raft Race Team came within a whisker of winning the 2009 event at the Meadows in Chester.

The crew, skippered by Charlotte Davies, rowed with all their might to the finish line at the Weir, but unfortunately were beaten as they approached the Groves.

After licking their wounds, our team has vowed to attempt to take the crown in next years event.

Liverpool Giant Spider Heads Towards Roodee Web Design

December 17th, 2008

As fears grow that the Liverpool Spider – La Machine – will make a break for Chester, the Birkenhead Tunnel will be closed on Sunday 7th September 2008.

La Machine is a huge mechanical spider that made a shock entrance to the world stage by appearing out of nowhere on Wednesday morning – clinging to the side of an empty office block in Liverpool.

As our video shows, massive crowds flocked to Liverpool to see the spider explore the streets. The spectacle, part of Liverpool Capital Of Culture Year, ends when the spider arrives at the entrance of the Birkenhead Tunnel on Sunday evening.
