Brand New Service Announced

January 31st, 2010

Over the last couple of months we’ve been working on ’secret missions’. We’ve kept it quiet and very close to our chest, but now we are ready to own up… We’ve been behind the Facebook and Twitter activity of some of Chester’s high profile businesses.

We’ve approached social networking in a different way to other web design companies who simply style a Facebook page to make it look a bit like your website… then leave. No visitors, no interaction, and no point.

The very reason why Facebook and Twitter are so hugely popular is that they are addictively interactive. Sure there’s a lot of inane chatter, but users also share useful info and links and they respond to interesting posts that catch their eye. Submit the right posts, attract responses and you’ll find your link being passed to an ever increasing number of users. Put up a page that is simply an ad for your business and you’ll wonder why you bothered.

Take the radio station for Chester, Dee 106.3. When we took over management of their Facebook account in Summer 2009 we grew the number of followers from a hundred to over 1,300 by introducing regular, relevant posts and useful content. How useful? Well word quickly spread in Chester when we posted school closure lists on their Facebook page as the city struggled with heavy snow in January 2010. Their Facebook link was passed from user to user.

That’s not the only benefit. The positive feedback suggests the station has scored points with existing listeners (and lots of new ones) who followed the links to the stations website, which is also enjoying record levels of traffic.

So what is our new service?

From now on, all of our websites that include blogs will also include free Facebook integration, and we’ll give you full instructions on how to use it. Of course we can also manage all of this for you if you choose.

We’re making a VERY helpful website

January 31st, 2010

Want to know what’s keeping us busy right now?

We’re working on a project that will be a huge help for anyone experiencing the difficulties surrounding separation.

Our clients have asked us to produce a website and system that will help provide a useful and money-saving service to individuals who have to deal with the legalities associated with family matters following divorce and separation.

We’re at the visual concept stage right now, where we show off all of our ideas including the way the site will look. We’ve also worked on how users will navigate through the site and how all the clever bits will work.

The site will have a two stage launch, with the fully functional version online in April 2010. Want to be notified when the site is live? We’ll Tweet it and link from our Facebook page.

Educating Chester

January 20th, 2010

We grab every opportunity to be involved with our community, so it was thrilling to be asked again to talk about a subject we love… Web Design in Chester.

Following our recent question and answer session with students at West Cheshire College, where we crammed lots and lots of great tips and advice (and picked some up too), we’re looking forward to an hour of questions at Chester Catholic High School. We’ll cover graphic design, the written word, code, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, blogs, social networks and reveal ‘the single most important thing every website must have’.

Our reward? We get to jump the queue at lunch.

Roodee saves Chester!

The temperature in Chester dropped to -9C

The temperature in Chester dropped to -9C

Extreme weather conditions this week brought Chester to a halt, with snow and sub-zero temperatures leading to traffic chaos and inevitable school closures. As the public turn to local radio for essential information we switched on the special ’school closure contingency facility’ on Chester’s Dee 106.3’s website.

The site (we designed but don’t host) was getting thousands of hits. Reading the numbers and spotting an issue out of our control we predicted massive problems on Thursday morning as the city woke up and needed information. So we worked through the night to build a new microsite that would cope with demand.

Next morning we braved an extreme -9C to drive in at 5am to be on site to help take calls from frantic head teachers and immediately update the school closure lists. We gave training in how to update it after 9am when the scramble for information for the day had passed.

The result – tens of thousands children and parents had a day off and a major headache was avoided. We know radio well and we know Dee 106.3 will gain new listeners from this exercise, and they will strengthen bonds with existing listeners.

The cost? Nothing. We want our clients to look great and right now we enjoy strutting around telling everyone we once helped save Chester from chaos!
